The mill of Menaglio is the best preserved water mill of its kind in Italy. Owned by the municipality of Teglio and run by the town’s buckwheat and grain cultivation association – the Associazione per la Coltura del Grano Saraceno di Teglio e dei Cereali Alpini Tradizionali – the mill, along with its original equipment, has been carefully restored.
Sat on the edges of town in an area called San Rocco, the functioning mill has two floors-worth of exhibition space, as well as an oven and kitchen where tastings of local food are held.
With no fence to keep visitors out, the mill is permanently accessible and serves as a nice spot to pass by while on a stroll. You may only visit the inside of mill on guided tours during summer.
